Ranil Jayawardena, MP for North East Hampshire visited RAF Odiham recently to find out more about the operations there and to thank the personnel for helping to keep our country safe.
Ranil said “ I am proud that North East Hampshire has an RAF base and I am glad to have had the opportunity to spend a couple of days there.
"I met many different people, from engineers, to pilots, to the Station Commander. It was interesting to see how their roles are changing after the withdrawal from Afghanistan - it was very clear that they are still being kept extremely busy!
I" was lucky enough to go flying in a Chinook, where I was given an incredible demonstration of just what the crew and helicopter are capable of!
"I was also pleased to see the further investment being put into the Chinooks at RAF Odiham, in line with George Osborne’s announcement in the recent budget that 2% of our national income will be spent on defence.”
